Terms of Service

Switchyard (“Switchyard,” “we,” “us”) is a domain redirect service. These terms govern your access to and use of Switchyard’s website and console. By creating an account or using Switchyard, you agree to these terms. If you use Switchyard on behalf of an organization, you agree on its behalf and confirm you have the authority to do so.

Accounts and workspaces

You need an account, created through our sign-in provider, to use Switchyard. Work happens inside workspaces. The person who creates a workspace is its owner. Owners can add admins and members, and are responsible for what happens inside their workspace, including the actions of every member they invite. Keep your sign-in credentials secure and tell us if you believe your account has been compromised.

Your responsibilities

You may only add a hostname to Switchyard if you control it: you own the domain, or you have permission from whoever does. You are responsible for keeping the DNS records for your hostnames accurate and pointed at Switchyard. You agree to use Switchyard only for lawful purposes and in line with our Acceptable Use Policy. You are responsible for the destinations you configure and for what a visitor finds there after a redirect.

The service we provide

Switchyard redirects hostnames you control to destinations you choose and serves them over HTTPS. When tracking is turned on for a redirect, we record analytics about each visit, described in our Privacy Policy. We work to keep Switchyard fast and available, but we do not promise a specific level of uptime, and the service is provided as it stands while it develops.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend a hostname or redirect that violates these terms or our Acceptable Use Policy, or that we reasonably believe puts visitors, another customer, or Switchyard’s infrastructure at risk. A suspended hostname shows a notice page instead of your redirect. We will tell you what happened and how to resolve it where we can. We may suspend or close an account for a serious or repeated violation. You may delete your workspace or stop using Switchyard at any time.

Your content and data

You own the hostnames, redirects, tags, and notes you add to Switchyard. You grant us the right to store and process that content to run the service. We do not claim ownership of your content, and we do not sell it.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Switchyard is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or lost data, arising from your use of Switchyard. Our total liability for any claim relating to Switchyard is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred dollars if you have not paid us anything. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Switchyard changes. We will post the updated terms here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will make a reasonable effort to let account owners know. Continuing to use Switchyard after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
